WiCyS Student Chapter at Penn State University Park
WiCyS Student Chapter at Penn State University Park
Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS), a non-profit organisation founded in 2013 by Tennessee Tech University with support from the National Science Foundation, aims to align with the global mission of fostering a robust and varied cybersecurity workforce. This mission is achieved by actively working to recruit, retain, and advance women in the cybersecurity field. WiCyS emphasizes creating opportunities for networking, enhancing professional skills, and continuous learning as key strategies for supporting women’s growth and success in cybersecurity careers.
I had the opportunity to restart and run the student chapter at Penn State University Park in the academic year of 2023-24. In our first year itself, we have organized numerous sessions, including a Resume Review Session, a Red-Teaming Workshop, a speaker session on threat intelligence, and various social events to foster community. Additionally, we attended the annual WiCyS conference and several career fairs, significantly enhancing our members' professional development and networking opportunities.
Here's a snippet of me talking about our student chapter in Chris Glendale's BarCode Security Podcast:
